Service Restrictions

The Pharmacy on Franklin is the only Pharmacy Network Pharmacy able to provide this service.

You must have previously been diagnosed with mild plaque psoriasis by a medical practitioner to access this service.

Pharmacists are not permitted to treat moderate or severe plaque psoriasis, or other types of psoriasis.

What Is Psoriasis?

Plaque Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes patches of red, scaly skin, often on the elbows, knees, scalp, or trunk (healthdirect.gov.au).

  • Symptoms may include:

  • Red, raised patches of skin

  • Silvery or white scales

  • Itching or irritation

  • Flare-ups followed by periods of improvement

Psoriasis tends to follow a relapsing-remitting pattern, meaning symptoms can come and go over time (healthdirect.gov.au).

Who This Service Is Suitable For

Pharmacist treatment is appropriate for mild flare-ups of previously diagnosed plaque psoriasis.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Have been previously diagnosed with plaque psoriasis by a doctor

  • Are experiencing a mild flare-up

  • Have localised, stable symptoms

  • Do not have signs of severe or widespread disease

Pharmacists are not able to diagnose psoriasis — if your symptoms are new or uncertain, referral is required (NSW Health, 2026).
