At The Pharmacy Network, our pharmacists at The Pharmacy on Franklin can assess and provide treatment for a select range of minor skin conditions, offering a fast, convenient alternative to waiting for a GP appointment.
This service is delivered under structured pharmacist protocols and additional training requirements, allowing eligible patients to access same-day assessment and treatment for certain conditions without needing a prescription (NSW Health, 2026).

Service Restrictions
The Pharmacy on Franklin is currently the only Pharmacy Network pharmacy able to offer this service.
There is strict eligibility criteria as set by the government for treatment in pharmacy for each condition. If your condition does not meet the criteria, our pharmacists may need to refer you to a medical practitioner to ensure you receive the appropriate care for your condition.
What Conditions Can Be Treated?
Under expanded pharmacy services, trained pharmacists can assess and treat specific minor skin conditions, including:

Eczema (atopic dermatitis) – flare-ups of previously diagnoses mild to moderate disease
Impetigo (school sores)

Mild plaque psoriasis – flare-ups of previously diagnoses mild to moderate disease
These conditions can be managed by pharmacists when they meet defined criteria, improving access to timely care (NSW Health, 2026).
Who This Service Is Suitable For
Treatment is only appropriate for certain patients. You may be eligible if:

Your condition has been previously diagnosed by a doctor (eczema and psoriasis only)

Shingles and impetigo can be diagnosed by our pharmacists and do not need a previous diagnosis

Your symptoms are consistent with a mild or uncomplicated presentation

You meet the specific age and eligibility criteria for the condition

For example, pharmacist treatment of eczema and psoriasis is limited to known, previously diagnosed cases, rather than new or uncertain conditions (NSW Health, 2026).

During a consultation at The Pharmacy on Franklin, our pharmacists will:

Review your medical history and previous diagnosis
Determine whether pharmacist treatment is appropriate
