Dose Administration Aids

Overview

At The Pharmacy Network, our pharmacists provide Dose Administration Aids (DAAs) to help you take your medicines safely and on time. DAAs are pre-packed medication systems (such as blister packs) that organise your medicines by day and time, making them easier to manage.

This service is available at The Pharmacy on Bunda, The Pharmacy on Northbourne, and The Pharmacy on Franklin, offering a convenient and reliable way to simplify your medication routine.

Requirements

To provide this service safely and efficiently, we will need your consent to liaise with your GP as required.

You will need to leave your scripts on file with us so we can prepare your DAAs in advance.

What Are Dose Administration Aids?

A Dose Administration Aid is a packaged system that organises your medicines into individual doses, usually by day and time (e.g. morning, lunchtime, evening).

This can help:

  • Reduce confusion about when to take medicines

  • Improve medication adherence

  • Support safe and consistent use of medicines

DAAs are commonly used for people taking multiple medications or complex regimens.

How Our Pharmacists Can Help

At The Pharmacy Network, our pharmacists will:

  • Review your medication list and prescriptions

  • Prepare your medicines into a weekly or monthly DAA pack

  • Clearly label each dose by day and time

  • Check for any medication changes or interactions

  • Provide advice on how to use your pack correctly

Preparing and managing DAAs is part of safe medication management and aligns with the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Professional Practice Standards (PSA, 2017).

Who This Service Is Suitable For

Dose Administration Aids may be helpful if you:

  • Take multiple medications

  • Find it difficult to keep track of your medicines

  • Have recently had changes to your medication regimen

  • Support a family member or patient with their medicines

  • Are looking for medication packing services near you

DAAs can support independence while reducing the risk of missed or incorrect doses.

What to Expect at The Pharmacy Network

Our pharmacists will work with you (and your GP or carer, if needed) to set up your DAA service. Your medicines will be packed regularly, and you’ll be notified when your next pack is ready.

We also review your medications as part of the process to ensure ongoing safety and accuracy.

When Additional Support Is Needed

In some cases, our pharmacists may need to liaise with your GP if:

  • There are changes to your medications

  • Clarification is required on your prescriptions

  • A medication is not suitable for inclusion in a DAA

This helps ensure your medication regimen remains safe and effective.
