What Is Injectable Medicines Administration?

Injectable medicines administration involves a trained pharmacist giving a medicine by injection, either intramuscularly or subcutaneously depending on the medication.

This service is commonly used for medicines such as:

  • Vitamin B12 injections

  • Other prescribed injectable medicines (where appropriate & with a valid prescription)

All injections are administered by appropriately trained pharmacists in a controlled clinical setting.

How Our Pharmacists Can Help

At The Pharmacy Network, our pharmacists will:

  • Confirm your prescription and suitability for the injection

  • Check for any allergies or contraindications

  • Prepare and administer the injection safely

  • Monitor for any immediate reactions

  • Provide advice on aftercare and follow-up

Administration of medicines and ensuring patient safety is consistent with the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Professional Practice Standards (PSA, 2017</a >).

When Referral Is Needed

Our pharmacists may refer you to your GP or another healthcare provider if:
