After more than 50 years serving the Canberra community, the time has come for a significant change within The Pharmacy Network. My father, Pat Develin, opened our first family pharmacy in Canberra in 1969, and I have operated a pharmacy within the Canberra Centre for 30 years, so the decision to sell The Pharmacy on Petrie is a bittersweet moment for me.
The Pharmacy Network prides itself on being more than a place to fill prescriptions—our pharmacies are a community hub that keeps our Canberra City community connected through our patients, customers, and the many team members working across the Pharmacy Network. Now, with the changing landscape of community pharmacy and a desire to focus on Canberra’s most vulnerable citizens, especially those who rely on our drug and alcohol services, it’s time to refocus our energy. Selling The Pharmacy on Petrie allows us to continue enhancing and expanding the services we offer in our other locations outside the Canberra Centre, ensuring that we remain dedicated to supporting the community in new and impactful ways.
We’ve recently made significant investments in expanding and refitting our other Pharmacy Network locations on Bunda Street, Northbourne Avenue, and Franklin Street in Manuka. Our decision to sell The Pharmacy on Petrie will allow us to build on this momentum and ease some of the pressures currently facing the pharmacy sector. I've always believed that behind every script there is a patient that requires support and understanding, and I sincerely thank you for the loyalty you've shown us over the years. The Pharmacy on Petrie team will remain in place to assist with the transition to the new owners, ensuring a smooth handover and continued care for all our valued customers.
Best regards,
Matthew Develin
